Tim Ollerenshaw, Head of Business at Moore & Tibbits Solicitors recently acted in the acquisition of a prominent South Asian record label company with a catalogue of music which was then sold to Universal in a high profile deal.
Oriental Star Agencies (OSA) was established by Mohammed Ayyub in Balsall Heath in 1969 and launched a number of British Asian artists. Mr Ayyub started his career in radio in the 1970s and was appointed an MBE in 2014. The deal included Oriental Star Agencies’ entire catalogue comprising of 18,000 songs, concert and video recordings.
With India being the second biggest music market when it comes to streaming consumption Universal have described the label as “the most prominent” of its type in the UK.
