Latest update from The Office of the Public Guardian | Approach to Family Care Payments
The recent changes made by The Office of the Public Guardian, sets out their position on care payments deputies and attorneys make to family members who are providing care for someone who lacks capacity.
The latest guidelines not only outline what is expected of deputies and attorneys, but also when they should ask the Court of Protection to approve payments. It also highlights when the Public Guardian will consider applying to the court in relation to unauthorised payments, which emphasises the importance of being up to date.
It is crucial that attorneys and deputies stay fully up to date with the latest guidance from the OPG on family care payments, as even small changes in approach can have significant implications for compliance, safeguarding, and decision-making.
